Habitat's mission is to create circular, smart and resilient communities.

The challenge

According to the United Nations, 68% of the world's population is expected to live in urban areas by 2050. With approximately 90% of the world's largest cities located close to water, we find ourselves in a situation where we are forced to rethink the way we interact with water. Given challenges such as climate change, rising sea levels, heavy rainfall, floods and urban densification we are forced to revolutionize the way people live. We believe that floating green living environments in urban areas offer a solution to these challenges.

The solution

Our solution is a new kind of climate-proof and modular housing concept in which people live and work in circular and resilient communities on water. Our project is built on four pillars: Community, Resiliency, Sustainability and Awareness. We plan to achieve this by revitalizing neglected quays in urban regions by creating floating green habitats.
