WattoShare

WattoShare aspires to optimize energy sharing, supporting sustainable options for energy surplus management.

The challenge

Renewable electricity production is constantly increasing in the Netherlands and those investments are made both by the public & private sector, as well as households. At the same time, there is an ongoing development in the area of renewables and an effort of more and more homes to become energy-independent, by investing in solar panels, a trend that creates an - until now - uncontrollable energy surplus. Therefore, here lies a challenge, which concerns the efficient utilization of the forthcoming investments to manage energy surplus.

The solution

What if... we could help transform the individuals from passive consumers to active prosumers and make a society that produces and shares energy effectively using smart technologies? Inspired by this generic concept, our ambition is to generate value from existing assets and provide the ability to the society and people to share their own energy and manage their energy portfolios. By enabling an open platform that allows the exchange of data and boosting relationships between network participants, our solution does not only better manage supply and demand, but drives sustainability and improves the cities’ efforts on minimizing their carbon footprint.
